Doctor search
by: James H. Henderson
We moved about three years ago. Finding a good doctor has been one of the biggest challenges that we have faced.
Thankfully, there is an online doctor search tool that has proved to be quite helpful in locating available doctors throughout the city who are still accepting new patients.
I did my doctor search and specified that I was interested in doctors within our local area. To my surprise the doctor search resulted in my finding a doctor practically in my own backyard.
At the end of our lane way there is a small doctor's office and there were three doctor's working out of this particular office. The doctor search identified one of these doctors to be accepting new patients. This proved to be very handy and I was able to get in to see this new doctor right away as it turned out that this clinic was actual a walk-in doctor's office, requiring no appointment to see a doctor.
Unfortunately, after meeting with the doctor identified in the doctor search, I was disappointed that she was not a suitable match for my needs. After discussing some of my concerns and problems, she actually chastised me, making me feel worse than I already did. This obviously wasn't going to work out.
So, I went back to the handy doctor search tool and set out on my quest to find a good doctor once again.
I was pleased to find another walk-in doctor within easy traveling distance who was also accepting new patients. I quickly arranged my affairs and headed off for an initial visit, seeing as I was going to need a new prescription in a matter of a few days.
This doctor was located in a rougher part of the city, and upon arriving I was rather taken aback to find that this particular office was also a methadone clinic for recovering heroin-addicts. It was quite disarming to sit in the waiting area, to find myself surrounded by some very derelict looking individuals with all manner of maladies. However, I stuck to my decision since finding a doctor is quite difficult and it turned out I was pleasantly surprised.
The doctor search had identified a doctor that it turned out was exactly what I was looking for. She was very kind and understanding and took her time to take an interest in me, even though it was obvious she was extremely busy. I was such a disappointment to find after only a couple of visits, that my new doctor was moving to a new practice specializing in the treatment of HIV-positive patients, and she would no longer be available to her former patients.
And so, once again I went back to the online doctor search tool. I finally found a good doctor, not too far from home, who has been treating me for the past few months. I have found the doctor search tool to be very handy and helpful and it has saved me a lot of leg work in finding a doctor.
