A perfect day
A perfect day is the most rare of things - when the sun is just right in the sky, and the wind is blowing moderately and cooly by you and there ire no clouds in the sky except for a few which are exceedingly fluffy and lovely.
That's the kind of day that makes me happy, a perfect day for kite flying, a perfect day for visiting with friends, a perfect day for a picnic – a perfect day to be alive.
I can still remember the first perfect day of my life. I was with my first girlfriend, my sophmore year of high school, and it was in the spring time. We had just gotten our drivers licences, and would always borrow my parents car to take it cruising all over the city. I remember cruising around with the radio on, with the windows rolled down, and a cool air blowing out of the bright bright sky. A perfect day to be in love.
We were actually playing hooky from school, which made things so much the better. When you are sixteen, the feeling that you are getting away with something always makes joy that much more joyous, and happiness that much happier, and a perfect day that much more perfect. I picked her up at her house before school, and we started to decide what to do. Both of us were exhausted (neither of us had ever gotten used to getting up in the mornign for school – there are some people who just aren't meant for it.) We went and parked above the town, and just took a nap, curled in eachothers arms with the windows cracked to let the gentle spring breeze flow through the car.
When we woke up, it was almost noon. We kissed for a while, and just watched the perfect clouds fly by on that perfect day. We soon went to get breakfast, carefully avoiding the area where our friends and the teachers got their food, so that no one would notice us after seeing us missing classes that morning. We then went to a movie in the afternoon, an old creature feature showing in the art theatre downtown, and made out in the back. We were so in love. The perfect day ended with us driving to the local state park, where we just talked and watched the sunset together. Such a perfect day. I've seen few of its like before or since.
