Play online games One of the best features about the internet, if not THE best feature about the internet, is games.  I love to play online games, and I can tell I’m not the only one.  Right from the beginning of the ‘Information Superhighway’, game makers realized the amazing potential in this new technological marvel.  Some of the first programs designed for the internet were in fact simple games like chess, checkers, and tic-tac-toe  I still love to play online games like these, even though internet gaming has come a long way since.  The simple games are often the most fun, in my opinion.  At any time of day you can play online games like chess or cards with people all over the world.  They are internationally recognized games, everyone knows how to play, and you can jump right in even if you only have a few minutes free time.  Because it is so easy to play online games, it can be hard to get any work done!  Indeed, one of my favorite times to play online games was at work when no one else was looking. My favorite online game is definitely poker.  There are literally dozens of great sites you can try to get in on some poker games with people all over the world, and it’s a great way to practice against people you’d otherwise never even meet.  As much as I love the simple games, I’m also a fan of the more hard-core online games as well.  If you are a fan of any kind of computer or console game, but haven’t played online games of the same kind, you don’t know what you’re missing out on.  You can play online games for any of the newer console systems out there, and many computer games have online multiplayer options as well.  Meeting up with some friends and playing your favorite games online gives the experience an added level of realism and a competitive edge single player games often lack.  Today there’s even an entire genre of games designed for online play.  These ‘Massively Multiplayer Online’ games create entire persistent worlds for you to explore and take part in.  This is probably the most extreme way to play online games, as you can easily lose yourself in these style games.  Just remember, even if your online character is well fed, you still need to eat in real life! So if you’ve never done it, I highly recommend that you play online games the next time you’ve got nothing to do.  Whatever game you think you might like, there’s probably an online version somewhere and tons of people playing it at any given hour.
